What We Do

Educational Presentations

INVINT provides various educational opportunities to its membership.  Speakers can be members of INVINT or invited guests from outside the organization.  Topics cover all stages of the invention process and include:

  • Researching the patentability of your idea
  • Freedom to operate investigation
  • Basics of patenting your idea
  • Copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets
  • Prototype development
  • Licensing vs. self-production
  • Foreign vs. domestic production
  • Beginning steps of deal-making
  • Term sheets and licensing negotiations
  • Landing angel and venture capital investors
  • Start-up formation and business incorporation
  • Commercial lending for small businesses
  • Social media marketing
Networking

Members of INVINT have the opportunity to present their ideas and inventions to the group for feedback and advice.  The presentations are kept in confidence since INVINT meetings are considered a confidential forum and members agree not to disclose ideas discussed at the meetings.  These presentations are great practice for inventors pitching their ideas to investors or potential licensees.  INVINT also hopes to promote the development of ideas, as well as valuable business connections through its networking opportunities.

Outreach Activities
One of INVINT's main goals is to give back to the community.  INVINT is always looking for outreach activities to participate in, and is open to suggestions for new forums.  INVINT is especially interested in the following types of activities:

  • Fairs, local business showcase events
  • Mentoring/collaborations with local students
  • Business & skills competitions, trade shows
